• Instead of, "The Yunnan hare (Lepus comus) is a medium-sized species of mammal in the family Leporidae, the same family as rabbits and hares," how about, "The Yunnan hare (Lepus comus) is a medium-sized species of rabbit in the family Leporidae" ?
