What is the article's overall status? It seems like it's complete and understandable.
What are the article's strengths? It addresses information about what the hormone is, how it functions and how it impacts people when it's mutated or not functioning which provides a general audience with a full spectrum of information all in one place. How can the article be improved? I think updating the sources would be a start. How would you assess the article's completeness - i.e. Is the article well-developed? I think the information about nongenomic effects needs some cleaning and updating. There seems to be a lot of speculative claims based on early research. This article doesn’t seem to be clearly distinguishing between what we know, and various speculative explanations researchers were proposing to try to explain it, which are often described in the literature as "potential" or "purported."
So many of the core sources are also behind paywalls, which makes verification hard, but I suspect some of these citations may be erroneous. For example, as far as I was able to find Pediatric Endocrinology (2014) doesn’t say anything about nongenomic effects of thyroid hormones, though it talks a bit about possible transmembrane receptors for other nuclear receptors.
If I find some time, I’ll try to find some more recent and easily available review articles, but I thought I’d leave a comment here about some of the red flags I’ve run into Pabnau (talk) 21:27, 4 June 2026 (UTC) Reply
