Its never late for an answer, you should know that is also eaten in Uruguay as is eaten also in Argentina, it may not justify the template but that was trhe reason (if any), to the template have been there. Regarding the worlds largest discussion, The Guinness book of world records has an article that sounds similar to the reference in the article text. However, it was in Portugal, not Spain, and the article simply refers to an "omelette" without specifying ingredients specific to this dish. I recommend the removal of this piece of the article or at very least editing.

- Tortilla, in European Spanish, as well as some variants of Latin American Spanish means omelette.[7][8] As such, a potato omelette is a tortilla de patatas or papas.[9][10]
In Latin America Tortilla DOES NOT means omelette, this is absolutly wrong, omelette in spanish is the french, only egg, omelette. Tortilla is tortilla and only in Mexico there's a different concept of tortilla and someone's needs to clarify "tortilla de patatas" or "tortilla de papas", unsing english speaking sources leads to this kind of language errors. - @Valereee: Your proposal ("previous image") looks like a quite unusual potato omelette. They don't usually look like that in the interior. In fact pic information suggests that the dish has been cooked by a Taiwanese-American girl in a rather tentative fashion, hinting at a possibly unconventional preparation.
