Senior among Norman bishops
[edit ]The following statement is made in the article:
The Bishop of Bayeux was senior among the Norman bishops,
The word 'senior' may be the problem. The bishop of Bayeux was not senior in his ecclesiastical province; the Archbishop of Rouen was the Metropolitan. seniority in church councils was by way of seniority in terms of a bishop's consecration date. The diocese of Bayeux was not the oldest in the area or the province; again, Rouen was older. The statement seems like boasting of some sort, and with the vagueness of the claim, I think it might better be deleted.

Gallican rite
[edit ]The article makes the following statement:
With Lyons Bayeux was one of the French dioceses which did not abandon its 'Gallican' rite in favour of Roman use in the years following the First Vatican Council (1870).
The statement is unreferenced. It appears to apply to the 19th century. Does the statement take into account the revisions in the liturgy made in the light of Vatican Council II, or the restoration of the 'Extraordinary rite' by Benedict XVI?

Removed flag of French Republic from Infobox
[edit ]I removed the French Republic flag icon from the Infobox, in accordance with several sections of WP:ICON; specifically (quoting),
- "Generally, flag icons should not be used in infoboxes, even when there is a "country", "nationality" or equivalent field: they are unnecessarily distracting and give undue prominence to one field among many...."
- "Flags make simple, blunt statements about nationality, while words can express the facts with more complexity." [Saint-Brieuc was for many centuries part of the independent Duchy of Brittany and of the Kingdom of England. The flag of the kings of France was quite different from the tricolor.]....
- "Do not rewrite history. Flags should not be used to misrepresent the nationality of a historical figure [including some bishops], event, object, etc. Political boundaries change, often over the span of a biographical article subject's lifetime. Where ambiguity or confusion could result, it is better not to use a flag at all, and where one is genuinely needed, use the historically accurate flag."
