Merger

[edit ]

I am proposing that the information in the article Sir Roger Wlliams be merged into this page, Roger Williams (soldier), because:

  • Although not much of the information given is the same, it is clearly the same man.
  • The article title 'Sir Roger Wlliams' is the wrong format (shouldn't include 'Sir'), and mispelt ('Wlliams').
  • Some of the categories are wrong (he wasn't English, he was Welsh).

I've never merged anything before, and am not sure of the protocol; perhaps someone can help!! (I've removed the mispelt article from the disambiguation page Roger Williams.) - Disambiguator (talk) 14:58, 15 August 2008 (UTC) [reply ]

Done I'll leave the final cleanup to others. There are fairly good merger instructions at WP:MERGE#Performing the merger if it's uncontroversial. Station1 (talk) 19:29, 17 August 2008 (UTC) [reply ]
Thanks - I've now done some of the more obvious tidying, but frankly the chronology is beyond me and still looks suspect. Any historian/researcher with insight is welcome to complete the merger (and hopefully add some souces)! Disambiguator (talk) 17:36, 18 August 2008 (UTC) [reply ]

Incorrect VIAF

[edit ]

The VIAF authority control information is incorrect. The correct VIAF reference number should be 64053215, which points (correctly) to Roger Williams 1540?-1595. The erroneous value (100296286) points to a modern author born in 1947.

How do I correct this obvious mistake?

The Last Of The Knights-

[edit ]

If you trace Sir Roger Williams title of Knight you will eventually come to my eldest brother. He is the last claim to Sir Roger Williams title of Knight, Richard Williams born in 1969, October 29th. He never had children and my middle brother and I both had daughters. Making me, I guess the last born male Williams. 2001:569:54D7:9700:D5D2:528C:5BDF:1C01 (talk) 04:43, 8 March 2023 (UTC) [reply ]
