@Markussep: It may be a problem of my poor english, but I would rewrite
... was responsible for measuring the distance from Dunkirk to Rodez, while Pierre Méchain was the one measuring between Barcelona and Rodez.
as
... was responsible for measuring the distance from Rodez to Dunkirk, while Pierre Méchain for that from Rodez to Barcelona

- Hi, I don't remember writing that part. It was probably translated from French wikipedia (in the current version: "En juin 1792, les scientifiques de l'époque se soucient de connaître la mesure exacte du mètre. Rodez va être un élément « central » pour accomplir cette mesure. En effet, Jean-Baptiste Joseph Delambre est chargé de mesurer la distance entre Dunkerque et Rodez pendant que Pierre Méchain mesure celle entre Barcelone et Rodez. Ils devaient se retrouver à Rodez pour mettre en commun leurs mesures et déterminer la valeur du mètre. En 1793, à Montjouy et Barcelone, Méchain détecta une incohérence entre les longueurs relevées et le relevé astronomique de la position des étoiles. La guerre franco-espagnole l'empêcha de réitérer ses mesures.") Since they were apparently supposed to meet in Rodez, I would keep the order of the places as is.
