Exactly where does the reversible setup begin? "Ohio Drive" is somewhat unclear. Where is northbound traffic required to exit during morning rush hour? --SPUI (talk - don't use sorted stub templates!) 10:00, 8 February 2006 (UTC) [reply ]

At the point where Ohio Drive (or whatever it's called at that point) splits into the Rock Creek and Potomac Parkway and the Potomac River Freeway, a barrier is set up at the entrance to the Parkway during morning rush hour. Northbound traffic does not enter the Parkway at all, but instead is required to use the Potomac River Freeway. For instance, instead of taking the Parkway straight to the Kennedy Center parking garage, you take the Potomac River Freeway to Virginia Avenue to 25th Street. Aha - that makes sense. Is the ramp from the circle around the Lincoln Memorial similarly closed then, or are you just forced to turn right at Ohio Drive? --SPUI (talk - don't use sorted stub templates!) 19:17, 8 February 2006 (UTC) [reply ]
The ramp from the circle is open; you just have to bear right instead of left. Doctor Whom 16:00, 9 February 2006 (UTC) [reply ]

Caveat about rush hour lanes

[edit ]

There is an important exception to the rules about lanes reversing at certain times on weekdays... if the weekday is a (Federal) holiday then the lanes do not reverse. This is particularly important on minor Federal holidays, when many people work and do not perceive the day as being a big holiday. For six months, I was in the habit of taking RCP northbound from the Lincoln Memorial after work Mondays. One day I turned left into my usual RCP lane and found myself facing on-coming traffic. It was Columbus Day.JDKempenaar 20:43, 14 December 2006 (UTC) [reply ]

Photo looking north

[edit ]

Surely that photograph is looking north from the M Street bridge, not the Pennsylvania Avenue bridge. No? If it were from the Pennsylvania Avenue bridge you'd see the M Street bridge.Thehersch 22:30, 18 December 2006 (UTC) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Thehersch (talkcontribs) 22:27, 18 December 2006 (UTC).[reply ]
