Government infobox

[edit ]

@Nikkimaria, Why not have provisional government in the government infobox? I don't see a reason not to include it. ErickTheMerrick (talk) 14:51, 21 February 2025 (UTC) [reply ]

Because it already says provisional government in |status=. As per MOS:IBP, "information should be presented in a short format, wherever possible, and exclude unnecessary content". It is not necessary to say the same thing twice. Nikkimaria (talk) 01:28, 22 February 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
It doesn't need to say that in status then, in many other provision al government pages (Like the Provisional Government of Hawaii and the many states that split from the Russian Empire during the Russian revolution.), provisional government is included in the government infox ErickTheMerrick (talk) 23:03, 22 February 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
This claim would be better described as the status of the subject. As noted what other articles do doesn't matter, although IMO it's likely the same might be true for them as well. Nikkimaria (talk) 01:46, 23 February 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
I disagree that it would better described as status. What purpose would the government even serve? The type of government is a provisional one, so it should go there. Status can be left blank. ErickTheMerrick (talk) 04:56, 26 February 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
The parameter is intended to be used to describe the form of government; "provisional" is the government's status, not its form. Nikkimaria (talk) 05:09, 26 February 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
Do you have something back that other than you own opinion? ErickTheMerrick (talk) 18:36, 26 February 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
It is the form, the form being a provisional or temporary one ErickTheMerrick (talk) 18:37, 26 February 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
Any form could be temporary; temporary is not itself a form. It tells you nothing about how the government operates, only that however it does so is not intended to be permanent. Nikkimaria (talk) 00:50, 27 February 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
We could have "Communist-dominated provisional government" like I had before ErickTheMerrick (talk) 05:27, 27 February 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
Which would also not be a form of government - there isn't a parameter for ideological leaning. Nikkimaria (talk) 23:55, 27 February 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
