Competing with . . . ?
[edit ]Do you really mean the Ford Falcon? That hardly seems worthy of competing with the Corvette and whatever the XNR might have become. Perhaps it should be the Ford Thunderbird, in this context? Otherwise, if someone thinks the XNR really was intended to compete with the Ford Falcon, then perhaps the Chevrolet Corvair would be the appropriate car to mention here, instead of the Corvette.
