- If anyone cares to upload it, there is a decent shot of a wand at Sony Insider. Although it was posted by Christopher MacManus, the majority of the text was copied almost directly from this Wikipedia article, without attribution (which violates the GFDL), so the image could very well have been stolen from somewhere else, too. - I'm well aware of that. Aesthetics aside, an image of the prototype is still useful. It is not always elegant trying to convey information purely in text. - Good article. There's not much in there that hasn't been reported before, but the points are conveyed much more clearly in interview form. It's a shame that many of the popular sites that get the big scoops are so horrible with details. Even in reporting this interview, Engadget makes it sound as if the controller has a built-in microphone, even though Hirani is clearly referring to the microphone array in the PlayStation Eye. PlayStation 3 Motion Controller → PlayStation Motion Controller — Capitalization issues aside, from the moment the controller was introduced at E3, this has been the most common name used to refer to the subject, and is most consistent with Sony's own conventions. I think we should add that the name of the controller used to be "Gem" (Or something like that.) John Riccitiello called it that at the UBS 37th Annual Global Media Conference. Later, he pointed out that that was what it used to be called, during development (before public announcement). Just a little tidbit that I thought might want to be included. - Honestly I don't think it's relevent enough and even if it was the original quote ("Sony "Playstation Move Staff" have said that "Ape Escape PS3′′ may be the best game so far for PS3 Move") reads to me that they mean it is the most suited game so far, rather than the most fun or the best implementation or whatever, so it is at the very least ambiguous. I personally belive that it doesn't use since it could cause problems for example animals around us. And I fail to see the point in it since Eye tracks the ball in wand and can calculate depth from that.
- Doesn't use... ultrasound? Forum posts I can find suggest they decided against using it. Also, it can calculate depth visually. I.e. The glowing ball gets bigger when it's closer. Are there any good third-party sources on the amount of lag? Eurogamer claim 133ms, but that was back at GDC in March. I find it quite laggy across the games I've tried and find this figure reasonable, but obviously that's subjective. Any other sources? —Pengo 05:26, 18 September 2010 (UTC) Reply
For me it appears to be at least 100 ms, if not more.. Like most Sony stuff this device is overhyped. My gyration remote doesn't have that sort of lag and also no drift problems. In the infobox a photo of the Move controller unit is shown. Maybe you can turn the image 90 degrees clockwise, so the controller stands up.
