[edit ]i would just like to note that a pioneer species is not always a plant species. It can be a species of nitrogen-fixing bacteria, as well.

- A ruderal (added to see also) is a plant that lives in highly disturbed habitats. They may also be called early successional species (although that category is a little more inclusive). Richard001 (talk) 08:17, 3 May 2008 (UTC) [reply ]
