Gram Stain Test

Molecular structure diagrams

Ctritique of the article titled Peptidoglycan for MICB301 Microbial Ecophysiology

The The line in the lead, "The peptide chain can be cross-linked to the peptide chain of another strand forming the 3D mesh-like layer," is closely paraphrased to the corresponding line in the linked source. Almost the same words and sentence structure is used except for minor differences. The lead also consists of the phrase "a common misconception" to refer to the idea that peptidoglycan maintains cell which shape reflects bias although the cited sources, which are reliable (journal articles), contain evidence supporting this information.
Information in the first paragraph under the heading: Structure, is unsourced. The diagram showing cross-link formation by penicillin binding protein seems irrelevant because there is no information describing the process. Also, since the structures of both gram-positive and gram negative cell walls are discussed, an additional diagram representing gram-negative cell walls can be added.
Biosynthesis of peptidoglycan consists of numerous steps. Some of the reactions take place in the cytoplasm, some on the inner side of the cytoplasmic membrane while some on the outer side.[1] Classification of the location of these reactions can be included. Furthermore, the role of different enzymes in each step must be mentioned.
The role of peptidoglycan in cell division through binary fission can be elaborated.
