Initial release date

(Disclosure: I'm not in PR but I am employed, in engineering, by the primary maintainers of the open source project.)

This page used the earliest tag from the Golang implementation of NATS for the initial release date. That code is a rewrite, done at Apcera, Inc; the initial implementation was in Ruby at VMware as part of Cloud Foundry. The update I made references the first tag in the nats.rb repo, which was 2010, but only claims 2011. 2011 is when Cloud Foundry was released (per current Wikipedia) so is the actual release year. I can't provide a public cite to prove this, but since I'm claiming "less old" than the public cite which I am providing, moving 2014 to 2011 instead of 2010, I think this is roughly covered. Someone might update the year to match the date in the git tag I cited, even though AFAIK that tag was while the repo was private.

Please - this page ain't nothing but marketing. This page should be flagged as such and dropped. Ekeyser (talk) 16:40, 16 April 2021 (UTC) Reply

Obviously Not. I'm not affiliated at all with anything NATS connected, I discovered it today in a ChatGPT reply. Id' agree this page is a stub, there is much lacking, but marketing it is not. Tochinet (talk) 13:42, 8 May 2026 (UTC) Reply
