Merged from Elevator music

[edit ]

Elevator music has been merged to Muzak per WP:OVERLAP - overlap, context, and duplicate - the two articles work better together, otherwise Elevator music fails WP:DICDEF. The section is at Muzak#Elevator_music, and will need editing to reduce duplication. SilkTork ✔Tea time 12:02, 15 November 2016 (UTC) [reply ]

Trademark Status

[edit ]

The statement "The word Muzak has been a registered trademark since December 21, 1954 of Muzak LLC,[4]" is supported by a dead link. The WIPO Global brand database shows a TM registration in Germany in 1965, now inactive, but nothing earlier. Only a French TM registration (from 1987) is still active. I'm not sure what the original writer intended to convey with the statement, but it is inaccurate and somewhat misleading because it does not convey the geographic limitations of the registration or that at least the earliest registration is now inactive. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.168.162.7 (talk) 17:17, 4 March 2018 (UTC) [reply ]

Yesco confusion

[edit ]

"Muzak merged with Yesco in September 1986. When Muzak began programming original artists in 1984, it was after merging with Yesco, and the programming was done by Yesco."

In addition to fixing the chronological contradiction, suppose one of you rewrites that without the grinding example of WP's endemic, compulsive name-overmentioning? (We need a good acronym for that syndrome, too.) – AndyFielding (talk) 11:33, 6 November 2021 (UTC) [reply ]

Was any research actually done?

[edit ]

The article currently claims that there was internal company research done to prove that their music was effective, but the claim is unsourced, and I couldn't find anything proving it in the literature. Indeed, even now it seems that the effectiveness of music on productivity has not been fully proven. Did Muzak know if their music actually work? Kczaj (talk) 05:20, 6 July 2023 (UTC) [reply ]

Section on World Trade Center

[edit ]

I've added an issue template to the section regarding Muzak's connection to the World Trade Center, which is too excessive and unsourced, and I don't see why it should be significant to the article as a while. 46.39.172.198 (talk) 22:50, 7 October 2023 (UTC) [reply ]

I removed the whole thing. --jpgordon 𝄢𝄆𝄐𝄇 00:21, 8 October 2023 (UTC) [reply ]

Muzak on FM Subcarriers

[edit ]

Muzak initially distributed its content over electrical lines. However, during the 1960s and 1970s, it transitioned to using subcarriers on FM radio stations. Source: Subcarrier Signals: The Unsung Heroes of the FM Dial - IEEE Spectrum. Philvoids (talk) 16:12, 13 June 2024 (UTC) [reply ]
