Former name Stalin

Here are some references:

I can add a reference to a Czech book about Balkan Mountains but I am not sure if it is desired to have such references in English Wikipedia. --pabouk 16:16, 16 April 2007 (UTC) [reply ]

Peak renaming

[edit ]

The quote from the article you have cited as the reason to include this paragraph (""the president will present the suggestion in the parliament after two weeks"") is erroneous. In fact, it refers to some political consultations between all parliamentary-represented parties and the president. The passage regarding Musala is further down and it is explained that this will be discussed first and "Saint John of Rila" is only Ataka's suggestion. The president explained that renaming decisions are taken by a commission and only after that can they be directed to the president.

In summary:

  • no voting in parliament is referenced in the article
  • no "official renaming" is about to take place; the name is only the idea of one opposition political party which seeks to provoke a discussion
  • the president has explained to the party leader that a certain process for renaming exists and has to be followed

In my opinion, these three points make the passage you have added to the article misleading and non-notable. In the future, please peruse the source carefully and try not to alter its meaning, intentionally or not. I will be expecting your response here or the revert of your edit; else, I will remove the passage in 24 hours. Best, Toдor Boжinov 10:39, 5 April 2012 (UTC) [reply ]

It is indeed erroneous, but the sentence should be rewritten not deleted. The suggestion for the renaming will be given to comission and if it comply with the comission's rules, the president will decide to rename the peak or not. Before you answer, I will remove at first time "voting in parliament" and "official renaming". Best. --Ceco31 (talk) 14:24, 5 April 2012 (UTC) [reply ]
I agree with Todor. This passing initiative has had no follow up so far, there is no proposal by the presidential commission on place naming, and the text should be removed I believe. Apcbg (talk) 18:33, 5 April 2012 (UTC) [reply ]
The passage is now a correct representation of the source. However, per WP:NOT#NEWS and with Apcbg's support, I am going to remove it as non-notable. Toдor Boжinov 07:47, 6 April 2012 (UTC) [reply ]

Name origin

[edit ]

If indeed Musala means "place for pray" and comes from Arabic, it is likely that it related to مصلی (Musalla, place of prayer) from the root صلاة (Sala, prayer) and it would not have anything to do with "Allah". I have added a fact tag for now, until someone with more knowledge of Ottoman Turkish clarifies. --Farzaneh (talk) 15:10, 27 August 2012 (UTC) [reply ]
