Overall: Expanded from 399 to 3820 just yesterday, prose size 3798 B. Prefer ALT0 over ALT4 over ALT2. Not sure if ALT3 meets DYKINT on top of the fact being removed, and ALT1 is a superlative hook (on top of being removed for being inaccurate). And BTW, you can save that for the next DYK since you technically didn't use it here. regarding Dean-Carlos Manibog. That is not his son; it's his nephew. Please re-read the source "Danae's grandfather, Gonzalo Monty Manibog was born in Laoag, llocos Norte. In 1952, he competed for thePhilippines in the Olympic Games. Her uncle, Dean Carlo Manibog also represented at the 1988 Olympics in Seoul." The source is about Monty's grand-daughter and it refers to Dean Carlo as an uncle to Monty's grand-daughter; thus making Dean Carlo Monty's nephew. @RightCowLeftCoast: ALT1 is still a superlative hook and less likely to pass DYK scrutiny than a non-superlative; also the first Filipino by itself doesn't automatically mean first Asian so it doesn't verify the hook, and besides if it's changed to something different it's still removed. And for Danae, it is impossible for one's nephew to be an uncle to one's granddaughter, they can only be a first cousin once removed, and besides Olympedia says that Dean-Carlos is his son. ミラP@Miraclepine 18:04, 17 July 2026 (UTC) Reply

@RightCowLeftCoast: Just to be clear, "first Filipino-American elected official in Southern California" doesn't indicate he was the first Asian-American elected official in Southern California since there are other Asian-American peoples (such as to name a few Chinese, Japanese, Indian, and Korean), and regardless Indian-American Dalip Singh Saund preceded him in being elected Justice of the Peace of Westmoreland (in Imperial County) as "first Asian-American elected official in Southern California", so ALT1 is debunked outright.

And Olympedia's not USERG, though it is no consensus on RSP for biographical data; hence I looked and did find this more-airtight source that confirms the father-son relationship. ミラP@Miraclepine 20:30, 17 July 2026 (UTC) Reply

@RightCowLeftCoast: They're verified, but I'm reluctant to approve the former due to the aforementioned superlative issues (only one source when multiple are needed); the latter however is more DYKINT-compliant than the nephew angle so has my blessing.
