Quick adjustment inquiry

[edit ]

Hey Dissident93. Sorry for the trouble, but I'd prefer your input before making a few potential edits.

I wanted to know if the Plot header positioning as it currently stands is deliberate. If it's not, do you think we should perhaps make a shortening adjustment to the infobox and image description to help push the Plot section down, or do you figure that those things should be left as? Those are one avenue toward getting the Plot header in line with the others without leaving an awkward blank in the Gameplay section, but it might necessitate the removal of one or two developers from the info box, which is something you might not approve of. Alternatively, I can look into fleshing out the Gameplay section a tad instead. Let me know what you think at your leisure.

Thanks and take care. Fact Scanner (talk) 23:19, 21 May 2021 (UTC) [reply ]

Fact Scanner, I don't think we should remove information just so the page happens to look better. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 05:11, 22 May 2021 (UTC) [reply ]
I considered it a possible option due to the -unfortunately fairly standard- lack of sourcing concerned with the developer info, Dissident93. Anyway, I'll look into a substantial addition or two for the Gameplay section instead. Please feel free to remove the additions/adjustments when they come if you feel that they're lacking. Thank you very much for the input. Fact Scanner (talk) 11:02, 22 May 2021 (UTC) [reply ]

I think there should be some other miitopia pages such as:

[edit ]

a list of monsters

a list of jobs

a list of gears/weapons

maybe a miitopia portal?

a page about each character (as in a page with a small/medium description of each character.) 67ckckhaha (talk) 18:50, 19 February 2026 (UTC) [reply ]

Heyo. I think I briefly spoke with you offwiki about this article. Reading it over, it looks really good. Expect me to begin soon! toby in solidarity 17:22, 2 June 2026 (UTC) [reply ]

Lead

[edit ]
  • It was (削除) originally (削除ここまで) released in Japan...
    • Done.
  • I see that the development section is pretty stubby and therefore the coverage of development here is almost nonexistent. Are you sure that there is nothing to say about this game's development? No interviews?
    • Nope, and this has been bugging me for forever now. I've mentioned this offwiki, but it surprised me that Miitomo the smartphone app got a developer interview while Miitopia got none, and I think this is literally the only Tomodachi Life game to have this be the case. The only other information I think I can include is this Jeuxvideo source [1] that mentions its initial reveal in a Direct centered on Animal Crossing. Does this seem like a good inclusion? TheBrickGraphic (talk) 19:49, 2 June 2026 (UTC) [reply ]
      • That's unfortunate. I guess this is just what we have to work with. And yes, that Jeuxvideo source looks good. -t

Gameplay

[edit ]
  • ...importing existing Miis from Tomodachi Life, selecting... -> ...importing existing Miis from Tomodachi Life (2013), selecting...
    • I'm conflicted on this. I've been kind of confused for a while on when exactly to apply MOS:DUPLINK in the articles I've expanded. In this case, I considered doing exactly what you've suggested, but I assumed that since the last paragraph of the lead and this first paragraph of Gameplay are so close to another, linking Tomodachi Life and mentioning the release year again would be redundant. Do you have a general rule of thumb when it comes to this? TheBrickGraphic (talk) 19:49, 2 June 2026 (UTC) [reply ]
      • I generally interpret the lead, the summary and centerpiece of the article, to be separate from the rest of the body, so I like linking what's in the lead again by the first mention in the body. One could argue that you don't need to link "role-playing video game" in Gameplay since it's only one mouse scroll away from the link in the first sentence of the article! [sarcasm ] -t
  • I would link party
    • Done.
  • Miitopia's gameplay centers on the player's party of Mii adventurers, which is limited to four members (削除) at any one time (削除ここまで).
    • This isn't mentioned in the text (since I don't recall if the sources mention it), but inns can hold a maximum of 10 Miis, which are gradually added as adventurers in their own right. Once you set off to continue the quest, you're required to only take four at once, hence the clarification. I'd personally count the extra six Miis as members of the overall "party", the mandatory four being just a rotating scouting group. I can try to find a source that mentions the maximum inn population; would this make sense? TheBrickGraphic (talk) 19:49, 2 June 2026 (UTC) [reply ]
      • Yeah, that makes sense. -t
        • Ok, so I unfortunately can't find RS that mention this, which I'm pretty sure is because you don't attain 10 Miis until the late-game, which reviews are never going to cover. So, I'll yield and remove "at any one time". TheBrickGraphic (talk) 23:22, 2 June 2026 (UTC) [reply ]
  • Each party member is assigned a personality type and one of several character classes, named "jobs", which... Does the player assign these stats?
  • I would link levels
    • Done.

Plot

[edit ]
  • Looks good.

Development and release

[edit ]
  • Looks good.

Reception

[edit ]
  • By February 2017, the 3DS version had sold over 168,000 copies in Japan. It became the ninth-best-selling 3DS game in the US in 2017. It amassed 1.22 million lifetime sales by December 31, 2022. Nitpicky, but I'd prefer if the game's name is said here somewhere.
  • The games mentioned here should have their release years next to them.
    • Done.
  • Nice job with this article. I'll reread it a few times after you deal with these points and move on to the spotcheck.

Spotcheck

The following refers to this revision:

  • 2
  • (削除) 3 (削除ここまで)
    • I think I missed where this mentions where Heated conflict can also occur, conversely worsening the party's statistics during fights.
      • This ref was mainly meant to simply reinforce that Miis help one another in combat more frequently as they become closer. Looking back on this, though, this detail is mentioned in passing in one sentence, and doesn't add anything revelatory. Because of this, I've removed the ref for now. TheBrickGraphic (talk) 18:49, 3 June 2026 (UTC) [reply ]
    • Says 5/10, not 2.5/5
  • (削除) 4 (削除ここまで) I think I missed where this mentions where Heated conflict can also occur, conversely worsening the party's statistics during fights.
    • Hm. Right now I can't find a source that supports the "worsening the party's statistics" part, so I've reworded it to "Heated conflict can also occur, causing Miis to betray one another in ways such as refusing to offer HP-enhancing items." From the review: "We’ve also seen them bicker and get annoyed with each other — once our pragmatic Chef had had enough of our Cleric giving away turns trying to pardon low-level foes, he refused to cook her any healing food until they’d made up."
  • (削除) 5 (削除ここまで) I don't see any mention of a Mii Maker.
  • 6
  • (削除) 7 (削除ここまで) I don't see where this mentions ...wigs that permit further Mii customization in the form of additional hair types, eyes, facial features, and miscellaneous shapes. I think you meant to use reference 6 here.

    • ...shaking up the cast, map, and combat occurred often enough to keep... I think this is a little too close to the original quote.
    • Would recomend using the archived version since the current one does not show the 8/10 score.

  • (削除) 33 (削除ここまで) I don't personally care, but scores should only be placed in the review infobox if they're actually used for commentary in prose.
    • I've added two points of commentary from the USgamer review. It's actually one of the more in-depth and interesting critical analyses (I wish I had used it more), but by this point I think the Reception is becoming a tad too lengthy so I'm gonna leave it here.
