Committee assignments

[edit ]

Do we need to list every committee Flowers has ever been on? If so, can we put it in a collapsible chart that would make the article more readable? — Preceding unsigned comment added by JohnHawkinsBois (talkcontribs) 19:04, 8 June 2022 (UTC) [reply ]

I did it myself. JohnHawkinsBois (talk) 20:39, 15 July 2022 (UTC) [reply ]

Thank you, User:Primefac, for protecting this page.

User:PhCass has repeatedly removed material they find objectionable to the article's subject. Considering the relevance of this subject to the 2024 Illinois House of Representatives election, I worked to include as much information as possible over the past few years. This included making the article more readable by inserting a collapsible table for the subject's committee assignments and passed legislation, and updating their political information (i.e. current status in leadership, etc.) over time. User:PhCass has routinely undone my work (for example, removing the collapsibility of the tables) and, again, removed content they find objectionable.

Considering that this is the only article that they have ever edited, and that they only remove content that could be construed to be unfavorable to the subject, I believe that they are a biased contributor.

@JohnHawkinsBois I hear you on the table collapsibility issue. Thank you for the time you have devoted to those edits. The page seems to be in good shape. I maintain my position that Capitol Fax is most accurately described as a gossip blog rather than a credible news source which is why I continue to target that citation for deletion PhCass (talk) 19:01, 11 March 2024 (UTC) [reply ]
@PhCass But before even doing that, in this edit you removed any mention of the current focus of an ongoing primary campaign. I'm fine with adding context re: union/speaker support for her opponent, but that context does not exist in a vacuum. Characterizing NPR news articles as "negligent misrepresentations initiated by Speaker Welch" tells me that you are a biased editor with a close relation to the subject.
CapitolFax is not a gossip blog. Per the Chicago Sun-Times, it is a daily political newsletter. All of Rich Miller's opinions clearly separated from the news coverage he provides on the website.
That was also the second time it happened--the first edit was reverted in good faith by @LizardJr8.
Also realizing that I forgot to @Primefac on this thread. JohnHawkinsBois (talk) 23:56, 11 March 2024 (UTC) [reply ]
I agree NPR is a credible source. In this instance, CapFax is not a credible or unbiased source in my opinion. In this specific case, CF anonymized his source(s) without offering any justification. That editorial choice means content originating from his publication is more likely to be deemed objectionable. The subject of this page is a living person; this merits a higher standard of care when deciding which content we tether to her name online. PhCass (talk) 02:10, 12 March 2024 (UTC) [reply ]
