Mammoth Hot Springs is a large complex of hot springs on a hill of travertine in the United States' Yellowstone National Park. It was created over thousands of years as hot water from the spring cooled and deposited calcium carbonate. Algae living in the warm pools have tinted the travertine shades of brown, orange, red, and green.Photo: Mila Zinkova

"Fish Pot" feature at Hot Springs

Can someone identify where the feature in this postcard is. Perhaps the "Fish Pot" is now known under some other name, or has since disappeared? --Fæ (talk) 15:48, 6 February 2016 (UTC) [reply ]

Hi @Fæ! The spot in this picture is actually located in West Thumb Geyser Basin! It's listed as "Fishing Cone" in this article on the National Park Service site: https://www.nps.gov/yell/learn/nature/west-thumb-geyser-basin.htm - Barrybluejeans (talk) 21:35, 5 November 2020 (UTC) [reply ]
