Hello! This is a note to let the editors of this article know that File:Dead trees at Mammoth Hot Springs.jpg will be appearing as picture of the day on September 15, 2011. You can view and edit the POTD blurb at Template:POTD/2011-09-15. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page so Wikipedia doesn't look bad. :) Thanks! howcheng {chat} 15:55, 13 September 2011 (UTC) [reply ]

Mammoth Hot Springs is a large complex of hot springs on a hill of travertine in the United States' Yellowstone National Park. It was created over thousands of years as hot water from the spring cooled and deposited calcium carbonate. Algae living in the warm pools have tinted the travertine shades of brown, orange, red, and green.Photo: Mila Zinkova

Identification?

"Fish Pot" feature at Hot Springs

Can someone identify where the feature in this postcard is. Perhaps the "Fish Pot" is now known under some other name, or has since disappeared? -- (talk) 15:48, 6 February 2016 (UTC) [reply ]

Hi @! The spot in this picture is actually located in West Thumb Geyser Basin! It's listed as "Fishing Cone" in this article on the National Park Service site: https://www.nps.gov/yell/learn/nature/west-thumb-geyser-basin.htm - Barrybluejeans (talk) 21:35, 5 November 2020 (UTC) [reply ]
