"Genus Cinnamomum is not native to South America". This is not, or no longer, true; certain species once placed in Phoebe (plant) are now in Cinnamomum. (However, the plants of 'La Canela' may very well still have been Ocotea (Ocotea quixos maybe? it's supposed to taste like cinnamon supposedly....)
- That interesting information was added by User:Vultur~enwiki. I didn't see it till now. So I will take out the misleading assertion. The main point that the expedition didn't find any cinnamon remains true, sadly. Whether any Cinnamomum species (as now defined) grows in the Amazon basin and was waiting for them to find I still don't know. Andrew Dalby 14:01, 3 September 2016 (UTC) [reply ]
