Is there any reason why this article should exist? All of the information here is covered in the article on Howard Dean. Should he be categorized as "People from Vermont"? According to the Howard Dean article, he and his brothers grew up in New York, and Howard Dean moved to Vermont as an adult. --Saforrest 07:03, 30 November 2006 (UTC) Reply
I replaced this with Category:American murder victims. I feel it is inappropriate to describe Dean's death at the hands of Pathet Lao guerillas as execution; execution is, strictly speaking, killing by the state or other legal authority. Charles Dean → Killing of Neil Sharman and Charles Dean Killing of Neil Sharman and Charles Dean – Dean and Sharman were killed while young, and are remembered for the manner of their death; the two were traveling together in Thailand in 1974 when they were captured and killed by the Communist Pathet Lao guerrillas. Coverage of their deaths, which has continued in American and Australian press in the decades since the killing, tends to cover their deaths as a single event. Neither is notable outside this event. material to support this was presented in the AFD, and also on the page, where the lede will need to bee rejiggered to accommodate this shift. Covering Dean, but not Sharman, in the lede is awfully Yank-centric, imho, downunder, it's Shaman in the headlines, with Dean mentioned later in the articles; visa versa in the U.S. Oh, also, I moved it thinking it was uncontroversial, but it was reverted.
