I propose that Seikan Tunnel Tappi Shako Line be merged into Kaikyo Line. I think that the content in this article can easily be explained in the context in the information of the line, and it will probably not cause any problems as far as article size or undue weight is concerned. Oppose. The subjects of the articles are totally different. One is a trunk railway line and the other is a funicular attached to a museum. If necessary (though I don't think so), I would merge Seikan Tunnel Tappi Shakō Line into Seikan Tunnel as the former is a part of the latter as tunnel facilities. --Sushiya (talk) 14:28, 30 October 2018 (UTC) [reply ]

Following that kind of "logic" it would make "sense" to merge the London Underground and the Heathrow Express because they are "connected" by Paddington station. --Voyager (talk) 00:45, 14 November 2018 (UTC) [reply ]

They aren't too incompatible. One is run by the museum and one is a JR Line. I suggested to merge them together because they were in the same area and connects to the line as a sub-underground line, which is in a way, part of the Kaikyō Line coverage. That's just your opinion which is obviously shared by nobody else. Compatibility is not generated by close geographical distance but by technical interchangeability. In this case this is obviously impossible, as one line is shared by high-speed trains and the other is a slow moving funicular on a steep slope. --Voyager (talk) 08:19, 15 November 2018 (UTC) [reply ]
One is a sub-line of the other. In case you don't know (which I suspect strongly that you don't), the line was used by express trains (特急) before the Hokkaido Shinkansen was opened. It was a normal line with 2 stops in the tunnel, just without regular services. One of the stops in the tunnel, more specifically Tappi-Kaitei station (竜飛海底), is connected with the Seikan Tunnel Tappi Shakō Line. That's why I suggested the merge, because it was connected to each other via a station on the line which serviced the line. And also, please remember to assume good faith. Thanks! I knew all of that before. However, it's still a bad proposal. If you really urgently feel the need to merge then at least merge properly. That means: Merge the funicular with Tappi-Kaitei station, but certainly not with the Seikan tunnel. I'd say a merge to Seikan Tunnel instead of the Kaikyo Line article might be better. The Kaikyo Line is more than just the Seikan tunnel, thus the Kaikyo Line article should focus on its topic, the line, and a section about a funicular (thats only connected to one closed station in the tunnel) might be distracting. (Also, i don't know how much of the article you want to merge; if it's gonna be just one short paragraph in the Kaikyo Line article it might work.) Although a merge with the Seikan tunnel article at least partially makes sense to me, merging to Tappi-Kaitei Station may be the best solution imho, as the funicular connected this station to the surface. was replaced by Super Hakucho after opening of Shinkansen Hachinohe station.

Kaikyo Line is the official name of the section from Nakaoguni (Aomori prefecture) to Kikonai (Hokkaido), which is newly built for connecting the two islands. It is a part of unofficial Tsugaru Kaikyo Line, which indicates the whole line from Aomori to Hakodate. 218.222.155.157 18:15, 18 Feb 2005 (UTC)
