"though Jewish"?

The article makes the point that he graduated from Exeter and Harvard notwithstanding his being Jewish. What is the source for that implication? Were these institutions really that anti-semitic in the late 30s/early 40s? I don't recall ever seeing that comment being made in regard to Norman Mailer's tenure at Harvard during the same period. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.29.79.117 (talk) 19:54, 21 January 2012 (UTC) Reply
