punitive expedition
[edit ]I'm not sure we should describe the raid that killed Philip as a 'punitive expedition.' It was in the midst of an ongoing war. The effort to capture/kill Philip was part of the end of the war. Usually the leaders of the losing side are among the last holdouts.
