Notability concerns

For notability, we are looking for sustained coverage, which is not possible to know tonight. If the media continues to cover his win in the coming weeks, like if CNN did a profile on him or something, that would go a long way to establish his notability.. Quaker by choice or Quaker by birth?

The edit summary for the removal of the words "by choice" is absolutely wrong. Only a small minority of religious affiliations are by choice. Most religious affiliations are by birth. I am not reverting the removal of the words "by choice" because the reference doesn't say that he converted to Quaker by choice. I wasn't able to find anything on Google saying that he converted by choice, so until we find a source that says one way or another (i.e. whether or not his parents were Quakers at the time of his birth) we should leave it unspecified. Everybody makes the choice to identify as any given religion. Even if you were raised a certain way, it's still a choice to actively identify as the same faith as your parents, and many people change religions as they grow. No independent adult is forced to be Quaker, or Catholic, or Buddhist, or anything like that. Thus, I think that stating that Palmer, an independent adult, chooses to identify as a Quaker is obvious and isn't necessary to state. Di (they-them) (talk) 22:21, 8 March 2024 (UTC) [reply ]
If he was born a Quaker, then he never made a choice to become a Quaker. Under such a scenario, he has been a Quaker his entire life. Call it inertia. But at the moment, this conversation is academic since we do not know whether he was born a Quaker (or his parents converted him into Quaker as a child) or if he chose to be a Quaker as an adult.

If Palmer is an adult, his religion is his choice, regardless of how he was raised or born. Being born in a religious family doesn't mean that religion isn't a choice.
