Grapevine Hill in the South Bay?

Grapevine Hill and The Grapevine are two distinct locations in Southern California. The song "Hot Rod Lincoln" is set on Grapevine Hill, in the San Pedro-Long Beach area of Los Angeles' South Bay. The Grapevine is a stretch of Interstate 5 in the Gorman area, 100 miles (160 km) north of Grapevine Hill.

I've never heard of a Grapevine Hill in that area. Where would it be? In the Palos Verdes area? I always assumed that they took a really long drive in the song "Hot Rod Lincoln" and Grapevine Hill that is referred to is the U.S. 99 section. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.176.175.210 (talk) 22:00, 8 September 2008 (UTC) [reply ]

Me too. Despite 20 years in Southern California I never heard of any other Grapevine Hill. Nor of any "San Pedro-Long Beach area": Is this alleged hill in San Pedro or in Long Beach? Road & mountainside design could be good additions Suggestion

If anybody reading this knows where to research or properly describe them, information on the unusually steep triangular patterns cut into the mountainside (presumably to prevent mudslides?) and the modern highway design (splitting the north/south lanes split to either side of the canyon & then switching sides) would make interesting additions to the article. I wouldn't know where to even begin, but I was disappointed to see no mention of them in the article. —xyzzy 11:07, 24 April 2014 (UTC) [reply ]
