Did You Know

...that Fort Dallas , a military post during the Seminole Wars, became the site of the new city of Miami, Florida in 1895?

Fort Dallas Park

[edit ]

Fort Dallas was at the mouth of the Miami River, near Biscayne Bay. Lummus Park is at least a mile upriver. There is a Fort Dallas Park, it is a completely separate place, a mile away from Lummus Park, downtown on the Miami River between the Brickell Ave and S. Miami Ave bridges. The only connection is that a building from Fort Dallas (barracks) was moved upriver to Lummus Park well after the Fort was closed. Why does Fort Dallas link to Lummus Park? 1305cj (talk) 00:00, 8 May 2016 (UTC) [reply ]

Remove mention of Lummus Park

[edit ]

Since there is a page for Lummus Park, and Lummus Park is not the site of the original Fort Dallas, I propose removing all mention of Lummus Park from this page. It's very confusing trying to find something about Fort Dallas or Fort Dallas Park (the site of the Flagler Workers House, on the Riverwalk east of the S. Miami Ave bridge) and being directed to Lummus Park. Pictures on Fort Dallas page should be of the original location of the buildings not where one may have been moved to. 1305cj (talk) 15:32, 12 May 2016 (UTC) [reply ]
