Visiting locomotives

[edit ]

The Locomotives section is beginning to look like an advert for upcoming events, which is not what Wikipedia is about. May I suggest that this section only list locos in the railway's permanent collection, and then add a note to the bottom saying that "The railway often plays host to visiting steam and diesel engines, details of which can be found on their website"... or something similar. Too many photos?

[edit ]

I think this page is getting rather cramped, and the text doesn't flow nicely around the photos when viewed on a larger monitor. I'd like to suggest that we add a gallery to this page a group all the pics together there... leaving one nice photo at the top of the page. Comments? David Bailey (talk) 18:48, 16 August 2008 (UTC) [reply ]

I would have suggested a gallery section myself. Kevin Steinhardt (talk) 19:18, 16 August 2008 (UTC) [reply ]

Prose style

[edit ]

The style of writing in the article is rather confusing, especially the section relating to a "past telephone box". There is reference to a fund raising exercise in 2006 which "will" achieve certain objectives. That's six years ago. Did it? Didn't it? Or is it still a plan? There's a lot of this present tense stuff; editing that for example, 'The railway hosts several events throughout the year "Spring into steam", "Mendip steam dream" etc' is dangerous. When was that written? Is it still true in 2013? Afterbrunel (talk) 18:37, 6 January 2014 (UTC) [reply ]

Sources for locomotives

[edit ]

A banner has been added to this article for the sections "Operational steam locomotives" & "Steam locomotives under overhaul" saying "This section does not cite any sources." Can anyone help add any citations otherwise they risk being removed?— Rod talk 08:59, 30 December 2017 (UTC) [reply ]

As there have been no responses to this request perhaps all of the "Locomotives" section should be removed - although this would be a real shame.— Rod talk 20:46, 5 August 2018 (UTC) [reply ]
