Daniel Robbins accepts new position with Microsoft Gentoo founder and former Gentoo Chief Architect Daniel Robbins began a new position at Microsoft on 23 May 2005. According to drobbins: "I'm helping Microsoft to understand Open Source and community-based projects." While in the midst of hastily packing to move to Redmond, drobbins nonetheless managed to find the time to finalize the transfer of Gentoo's intellectual property (essentially copyrights on ebuilds and other software as well as soon-to-be trademarked Gentoo logos) to the not-for-profit Gentoo Foundation, Inc.

Gentoo Linux founder quits Microsoft For anyone wanting to update the page with more info on him leaving MS, see for example these pages: [1], [2] -- Limulus 20:32, 14 February 2006 (UTC) [reply ]

Inconsistencies with becoming a Gentoo-Dev again According to drobbins own blog his "rehire" was only a few days ago, not in August as this wiki-page suggests. The linked bug-report is not an indication that drobbins is a developer again, simply that he was being mentored to become one. This is akin to saying he began his apprenticeship in late August. Per Petteri's latest comment and the afformentioned blog posting Danial only recently became an actual developer. I've updated the article accordingly but I wanted to detail my reasoning here as someone who isn't as familiar with Gentoo might not understand the difference.Shan 19:38, 27 February 2007 (UTC) [reply ]

Daniel RobbinsDaniel Robbins (computer programmer) or Daniel Robbins (software developer) – Another person exists with the same name: Daniel Robbins (art historian). This is a very prominent historian, in view of his numerous publications for the public and private institutions for which he served: Solomon R Guggenheim Museum, Dartmouth College, Rhode Island School of Design Museum, Fogg Museum at Harvard University, National Endowment for the Humanities. He also lectured at a variety of institutions including Yale University, Williams College, Hunter College, the Institute for Advanced Study at Princeton University, and the University of Iowa. In light of his prominence in the art world, arguably, the art historian Daniel Robbins should be considered the primary topic of the term Daniel Robbins. The topic of the art historian is very possibly primary with respect to long-term significance. Robbins was a prolific writer specialized in Modernism and had been publishing papers since the 1960s up until his death in 1995. The age of the computer programmer is not even known to the public reading the article, as no date are given. Daniel Robbins (art historian), potentially, as a result of his many important publications, has a substantially greater enduring notability and educational value than the computer programmer with the same name. --Relisted. Quick comment: I don't think the number of incoming links (which will usually favor a computer programmer) should trump notability; something that clearly favors Daniel Robbins (art historian). Those numerous links will still pass through with a re-direct. Coldcreation (talk) 09:34, 17 January 2014 (UTC) [reply ]
