• Found a source for the Skull/Bones society and have re-added it back to the page.

Here's an article that mentions a Covington & Burling lawyer named David H. Remes who's defending the fascists at GTMO. It was found via HotAir.com.

I haven't had time to research this yet, but I'm noting it here for future reference.

David H. Remes is listed here although it doesn't mention GTMO.

Jason M. Knott and Trisha B. Anderson are listed as GTMO defenders.

More GTMO-related work, although most appear to be on different cases than the others:

Stephen George is listed as assisting "in political asylum proceedings."

Gregory M. Lipper "assists in firm's representation of Yemeni nationals" at GTMO.

Brian D. Smith "provided advice on legislation related to the treatment of detainees (in connection with the firm's Guantanamo Bay detainee representation)."

Tara M. Steeley and Jeffrey C. Wu worked on amicus briefs for retired generals and admirals in Hamdan v. Rumsfeld against the DoD policy.

I'll add Lipper to the main GTMO lawyers list. The others may take more time.

"The only dispute is whether D.C. Code section 7-2507.02 'effects functional disarmament.'" This is a quote from Heller's Brief. Contrary to what kevinp2 keeps posting on any possible entry related to this case, it is NOT a given that D.C.'s laws are a functional firearms ban. D.C's and Heller's brief both quibble over whether there is a self defense exception to certain provisions, but it is a misrepresentation to say that D.C. argues there is an exception to the ban on functional firearms because D.C. does not concede that it is a ban on functional firearms.Harvardgirl33 (talk) 13:50, 12 March 2008 (UTC) Reply

Ummm a bit of speculation. The article says that there are many connections (No Cite); then names 1 connection and cites a source that itself is nothing more than a gossip magazine in book form. I vote delete. Agree?

This page was part of an Harvard Law School edit-a-ton on 2 April, meant to add content re major cases which this firm might wish were not so widely known . HLS student and Wikipedian Avachat (Lawschooltoker) made the actual edits (instead of each individual making the edits themselves), contrary to WP policy it seems (?), and further removed language describing the Gaza war protests in the United States (those at law schools eg HLS) as anti-Semitic (but they claim to have kept language noting that the firm deemed them so - have not checked). The inclusion of unsavoury major cases, and clarification re who claimed the protests were anti-Semitic, seem like sound edits that should stand.

On 14 April, the edit-a-ton was covered by Washington Free Beacon as an instance of 'anti-Semitism' . There now may be/seem to be accounts/IPs reverting those edits, possibly due to the WFB coverage alone. On 17 April, Avachat made a TikTok in response, noting this trend after the WFB article .
