Value of the article

[edit ]

The article is involved mathematically but has a good value for scientists and technical people as it is (kudos to the authors of the article). Therefore it would be a shame to delete it or simplify it. A suggestion would be to link it to the Pulse compression article as some sort of "more detailed section/article" where the Pulse compression article would only summarize main results. Also, this present article could have a link to the Pulse compression article at the start. Flambe (talk) 13:56, 14 March 2023 (UTC) [reply ]

The topic requires a lot of mathematical knowledge. I see no way to describe the relevant issues without mathematics. The text should not be changed. 2A02:810D:A4C0:7BD4:D7:CF07:9A31:C1FF (talk) 10:38, 1 March 2024 (UTC) [reply ]

Signal-to-noise ratio improvements by pulse compression

[edit ]

Since the compression process is bandwidth selective, mean it will produce a signal with the maximum bandwidth of the matched filter, I think that the sentence "The amplitude of random noise is not changed by the compression process" is true only if the random noise bandwidth is less of the matched filter bandwidth. If the noise has a broader bandwidth of the matched filter, the compression will be reduced the noise by the bandwidth ratio between original noise bw and matched filter bandwidth.
