Proposed move

[edit ]

Unless anyone objects, I will shortly be changing the title of this page from Carsington Reservoir to Carsington Water. This is the name as it appears on Ordnance Survey maps, which I feel should be the primary source for establishing the "correct" form of British place names and those of other geographical features. In addition, this is the name as used by the operators of the reservoir, Severn Trent Water.[1] Lastly, while a Google test is by no means proof of anything, it is the case that there almost ten times as many results for "carsington water" than "carsington reservoir", suggesting that this is also the more popular name in general use. Go for it, you've easily got the justification there. Though don't assume the OS are infallible; Scafell Pike and Innominate Tarn are mistakes they've made in the past apparently. --VinceBowdren (talk) 23:11, 14 September 2008 (UTC) [reply ]
