Content admirably covered elsewhere
[edit ]This article is confused, not at all concise and lacks purpose..It confuses waves in physics with waves in the sea / coastal sense. If you check out the WP entry for "Waves" and that for "Wind Waves" you will find both senses are more than adequately dealt with.
