The result of the move request was: moved. G4 does not apply as the article is different enough to the one that was deleted. While it exists it should be at the proper title. Of course there is on prejudice against a new AfD, but it does seem she has won a notable award in the interim. Jenks24 (talk) 18:27, 2 May 2016 (UTC) Reply
Bhumi Pednekar (actress) → Bhumi Pednekar – No need for dab in title. Destination is create-protected, otherwise I'd move it myself. – Jonesey95 (talk) 05:36, 24 April 2016 (UTC) Reply
- Comment. There is always a reason why any destination is create-protected. The original Bhumi Pednekar article was previously deleted in March 2015 per Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Bhumi Pednekar. That original argument was that she was not notable at that time to warrant a stand alone article, since she had only appeared in one project: Dum Laga Ke Haisha . Has this consensus changed, or the reason for this deletion no longer applies? Otherwise, this should get deleted again under WP:G4. Zzyzx11 (talk) 07:06, 24 April 2016 (UTC) Reply

Hi @Krimuk2.0: I disagree with you here. Going down the tree of disambiguation, we would care about the nation first, then the language, then any sort of ethnic identification, if relevant, which I don't think it is. We should consider that not everybody in the world knows what Hindi is, and far fewer know what Telugu or Tamil or Odia are. Making the content understandable should be our first goal, and we likely wouldn't say "She appears in Odia films" because few non-Indians would know what that is. (And no, wikilinking isn't how we make content understandable.) "Odia-language" would be the correct compound adjective to describe the films that person appears in, and then the primary topic is the language, not the ethnic film industry. - Cyphoidbomb My understanding is that we link to Bollywood, which links to the appropriate film industry (which is where she works), where the user can find a wikilink to the language Hindi. Alternately, the opening statement might say, "...Indian film actress who works in Hindi-language films of Bollywood" to avoid confusion. However, the common practice in FA-articles, such as Kareena Kapoor, Preity Zinta, and Shah Rukh Khan has been to link to the industry and not the language. - @Krimuk2.0: Well, I don't plan to fight anybody here about it, and I hope you don't think I'm giving you a hard time specifically, but taking examples from the melting pot nation, Brad Pitt works in the Hollywood film industry, yet there is no link for that. No link for Woody Allen working in a culturally Jewish film industry. They are American actors, and if they produced films in a language other than English, the third level of our taxonomy would be language. Did Cheech Marin, whose films are in English, work in the Chicano film industry? Ethnic industry is not typically the focus. Anyhow, that's my opinion. It may be unpopular. Feel free to use it or ignore it. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 12:39, 28 December 2019 (UTC) Reply
- That's because saying one is an "American actor" is sufficient, as America has only one film industry, and that's Hollywood. India has many: Bollywood, Telugu cinema], Tamil cinema, Cinema of West Bengal, and many others, which is why we can't compare American actors with Indian actors. Each of these industry is based on language, and that's obvious from the nomenclature. I still fail to see why it's being seen any different. There are proper wikipedia articles to these industries as opposed to a Jewish film industry or a Chicano film industry. Krimuk2.0 (talk) 13:25, 28 December 2019 (UTC) Reply

It will be easier to see for which work she won the award. The way these tables are organized right now makes it difficult to see. 80.114.218.229 (talk) 17:57, 14 July 2024 (UTC) Reply

I propose the lead sentence be updated to: "Bhumi Pednekar (born Bhumi Satish Pednekkar)..." and also request moving the article title to "Bhumi Satish Pednekkar" as her full and preferred name.
Requesting input from other editors before making the change. Thank you. Team meraseo (talk) 13:53, 23 May 2026 (UTC) Reply
(削除) I fully support both proposals. (削除ここまで)(削除) The sources provided clearly demonstrate that Bhumi Satish Pednekkar is her complete and legal name. Her verified Instagram, LinkedIn, recent media coverage, and IMDb all use or acknowledge "Bhumi Satish Pednekkar". She also appears to have made a conscious decision to include her father’s name "Satish" in professional contexts. (削除ここまで)(削除) While "Bhumi Pednekar" has been her long-standing stage name, the evidence shows a clear shift toward using her full name. Per WP:NAMECHANGE and WP:COMMONNAME, when a subject adopts their full name and it is increasingly reflected in reliable sources, we should update the article title accordingly. (削除ここまで)(削除) I recommend: (削除ここまで)(削除) Moving the article to Bhumi Satish Pednekkar (削除ここまで)(削除) Using the lead sentence: "Bhumi Satish Pednekkar (known professionally as Bhumi Pednekar) is an Indian actress..." (削除ここまで)(削除) This approach is both accurate and respectful of her preference. Strong support. ~2026-31602-77 (talk) 12:09, 27 May 2026 (UTC) (削除ここまで)Strike sock comment In solidarity, Blue-Sonnet (I'm listening) 19:09, 14 June 2026 (UTC) Reply(削除) Support. (削除ここまで)(削除) The sources provided clearly show that Bhumi Satish Pednekkar is her full name and that she is actively using it across verified and reliable platforms. Since this name is now being reflected in multiple recent sources, updating the article title and lead would improve accuracy. (削除ここまで)(削除) I support moving the article to Bhumi Satish Pednekkar and using "Bhumi Satish Pednekkar (known professionally as Bhumi Pednekar)" in the lead. This maintains recognizability while reflecting her current name usage. ~2026-32083-35 (talk) 12:13, 30 May 2026 (UTC) (削除ここまで)Strike sock comment In solidarity, Blue-Sonnet (I'm listening) 19:09, 14 June 2026 (UTC) Reply
- Comment: While Bhumi Pednekar is the article name / WP:COMMONNAME, the name referred as Bhumi Satish Pednekkar can be used in the lead sentence only per MOS:FULLNAME or whatever it is, based on this third party source as well as the subject's verified Instagram handle, in my opinion. Everywhere throughout Wikipedia including the rest of this article, Bhumi Pednekar or Pednekar (per MOS:SURNAME) will be used. That being said, if @Team meraseo: is making a suggestion to move this article to this new name then first, you've to do a proper move request here (this one isn't). Secondly, I'd oppose it per WP:COMMONNAME. And third, it would require consensus from established editors with those in WP:ICTF project rather than temporary IDs like the above which I doubt are socks/meats created for this purpose only. Are these your IDs? - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 17:45, 30 May 2026 (UTC) Reply
- The purpose of this discussion is not only to add the full name to the lead but also to consider whether the article title should reflect the subject's actual and verifiable name. Multiple sources, including the subject's verified social media profiles and independent publications, identify her as Bhumi Satish Pednekkar. I believe this evidence merits consideration for a title change through the appropriate process.
- Regarding the suggestion about other accounts, I can only speak for myself. My position is based on the sources presented and the accuracy of the article's title and content. Whether other editors support or oppose the proposal should be evaluated on the strength of their arguments and sources rather than assumptions about their identities.
- If a formal move request is required, I am willing to initiate one so that the community can evaluate the evidence and determine whether the title should remain "Bhumi Pednekar" or be moved to "Bhumi Satish Pednekkar." Team meraseo (talk) 09:02, 3 June 2026 (UTC) Reply
(削除) Support (削除ここまで)(削除) I support the proposal to add Bhumi Satish Pednekkar to the lead. The sources provided, including The Indian Express, Vogue India, ANI, and PETA India, demonstrate that the fuller name is being used by reliable publications. Additionally, the subject's verified Instagram account and professional LinkedIn profile indicate that "Bhumi Satish Pednekkar" is her current public and preferred name. (削除ここまで)(削除) At a minimum, updating the lead to include the full name would improve accuracy and reflect how the subject is identified in recent sources. The question of a page move should be determined based on broader source usage and consensus, but the evidence presented is sufficient to justify adding the full name to the lead. ~2026-32922-33 (talk) 16:47, 2 June 2026 (UTC) (削除ここまで)Strike sock comment In solidarity, Blue-Sonnet (I'm listening) 19:09, 14 June 2026 (UTC) Reply
- @Team meraseo: Stop making changes to the WP:COMMONNAME without WP:CONSENSUS to change this article name itself. I seriously doubt all these Temporary IDs that are supporting your stance are sock/meat puppets. And this is not a proper page move consensus either (see WP:RSPM). You have to involve other experienced users involved at WP:ICTF and elswhere.
