Which Hanno is this? That leads to the disambiguation page...it's too early for Hanno the Great, isn't it? Adam Bishop 02:47, 29 Jan 2004 (UTC)

Hi Adam! Problem is i dont know. There are loads of Hannos in the sources, all different... I suspect no one in special. I added a note on this on the disambig page. Cheers, Muriel 13:08, 30 Jan 2004 (UTC)

Hi Muriel, I thought it might be Hanno the Elder, who is listed on the disambiguation page, but I don't know anything about that one. Thanks! Adam Bishop 15:11, 30 Jan 2004 (UTC)

I disagree with the statement: 'alae (cavalry formations)'. After the Marian reorganization in the later republic, alae were cavalry, but in this period, they were cavalry heavy auxiliary troops that tended to be positioned on the wings. The Wikipedia article on alae does mention this (indirectly), and I'd suggest a link to the article rather than the '(cavalry formations)' text. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Llynglas (talkcontribs) 16:35, 22 July 2008 (UTC) [reply ]
