(削除) * Comment: @ArtemisiaGentileschiFan: my bad, I accidentally overrode your edit there. I still habe the same concerns I addressed in my now-reverted edit: the source used doesn't follow the sentence with the fact. The Guardian source does, and should be used instead. Personally, I say . Roast (talk) 01:23, 3 August 2025 (UTC) (削除ここまで)Reply

    • Another comment: my bad again, the source is actually cited and I wasn't looking correctly. Ignore previous comment. I'm a clusterfuck to this DYK nom here. Roast (talk) 01:27, 3 August 2025 (UTC) Reply
@Guerreroast: Striking through the {{dyk? }} doesn't send it to Approved, so I'll do that now; apologies if I've misinterpreted.--Laun chba ller 13:47, 9 August 2025 (UTC) Reply

Jeez, this looks pretty interesting. Nice job on getting a DYK on this one. Expect me to begin soon! toby in solidarity 21:35, 5 June 2026 (UTC) Reply

@Tarlby I'm currently live-streaming, but I'll be sure to address the issues tonight! :D - OpalYosutebitotalk』 『articles I want to eat22:30, 5 June 2026 (UTC) Reply
I just finished the lead and most of the copyediting in the description section. However, I'm not sure if rocking the baby as intended "kills" it, since the provided source doesn't say anything about the "good ending"... - OpalYosutebitotalk』 『articles I want to eat02:47, 6 June 2026 (UTC) Reply
Other than that, I'm pretty much done (as far as I know), and I'm awaiting further feedback! :D (Edit: please keep in mind that it's 11:15 pm in my area, so I might not respond immediately) - OpalYosutebitotalk』 『articles I want to eat03:15, 6 June 2026 (UTC) Reply

Lead

  • Baby Shaker is a controversial discontinued mobile game that was available on the Apple App Store for a short time in April 2009. -> Baby Shaker was a controversial mobile video game that was available on the Apple App Store for two days in April 2009. (Done)
  • ...the game features a minigame in which... Unless that is how sources describe it, it sounds incorrect to call the game a "minigame" if the minigame is itself the whole game. (Done)
  • Developed by Sikalosoft, the game features a minigame in which players can quiet an illustration of a baby accompanied by sounds of distress by either rocking their iPhone or shaking it, the latter of which results in the depicted baby's death. This is worded weirdly IMO and does not clearly state the goal of the game: Developed by Sikalosoft, the game tasks players with either rocking or shaking their IPhone for as long as possible to quiet a crying baby; by shaking it, the baby dies. (Done)
  • The app received widespread negative attention across the Internet... It is better to say who or what people gave this game widespread negative attention. (Done)

Description

[edit ]
  • Baby Shaker solely consists of a minigame in which... Like the above, I'm not sure if "minigame" is the right word here. (Done)
  • There are two ways players can calm the baby down: they can either rock their iPhone back and forth as if they are cradling a baby in their arms, or they can shake their iPhone, which... -> Players must calm the baby: they can rock their iPhone back and forth like they are cradling the baby, or shake it, which... (Done)
  • Does rocking the baby also stop it from crying? Or is it just by killing it?
  • ...protesters showed up outside of... -> ...protests occurred outside the... (Done)
  • (削除) In response to the criticism, (削除ここまで) Baby Shaker was removed from the App Store on April 23, 2009, two days after its release. (Done)
  • I see a useful amount of sources in the Further Reading section. Why not use them? (Done)
  • I am now awaiting your responses.

Spotcheck

[edit ]

Sourcing for this article seems pretty simple, so I will check less than I usually would for other reviews. The following refers to this revision.

  • (削除) 3 (削除ここまで)
    • Does not source the 2025 inflation stat.
    • The app was removed on April 22, not 23 (it says the source was written on "Thu 23 April" and that it was removed Wednesday).
  • (削除) 4 (削除ここまで) Does not source the 2025 inflation stat.
  • 6
  • 7
  • 15
  • 17

A few hits, so I'll check a couple more.
