Its flagship article assures readers that Al Jazeera was "launched with a mandate of independence," was "noted for its journalistic professionalism," and is recognized by scholars as having driven a democratizing "Al Jazeera effect" across the Arab world. This is the conventional wisdom hundreds of millions of people now casually believe.
Al Jazeera English has developed its own internal editorial guidelines and is editorially independent from Al Jazeera Arabic.

Since this has been subject to a revert, I will bring it to talk page. The portion in the lede about Al-Jazeera as a "trusted source" is an unqualified qualifier that does not exist in the lede for the page of any other news network, even other RS such as BBC https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BBC, Le Monde https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Le_Monde, or CNN https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CNN. CNN is an apt comparison since CNN's slogan is "The most trusted name in news", but that phrase is specified in the passage as "claims to be" and by CNN itself, and in the page about Le Monde, the qualification of "Newspaper of Record" is specified as "presents itself" rather than a statement of fact as in the lede for the Al Jazeera page. The subjective quality of a newspaper is never stated in the lede as a matter of fact. ~2026-32294-65 (talk) 02:00, 30 May 2026 (UTC) Reply
- It says "trusted source of news in the Arab and Muslim world" and is supported by WP:RS I can find some more sources as well if needed. It’s a matter of consensus to include it in the lead of this article, and articles of BBC or CNN have no effect. Feel free to revert as per WP:ONUS. The network is also heavily criticized and attacked. Bias maybe arguably a dominant factor in trust. So I can understand - why westerners might think Al Jazeera cannot be trusted - but as sources describe - it is a trusted network among the Muslim world. 🐈Cinaroot 03:57, 30 May 2026 (UTC) Reply

- The Articles on other news networks are there to give an example of how article lead should be written WP:MOS, "the lead should be written in a clear, accessible style with a neutral point of view." The first two sections of NPOV are "Avoid stating opinions as facts" and "Avoid stating seriously contested assertions as facts", the way you wrote the segment conflicts with both of these, since your cited sources are the opinions of those sources, and the trustworthiness of Al Jazeera is contested by other RS. To give an example, saying "Al Jazeera is trustworthy" is an opinion, saying "there are people who trust al Jazeera" would be the fore factual statement. ~2026-32294-65 (talk) 01:23, 2 June 2026 (UTC) Reply
- CNN’s slogan is "The most trusted name in news". That’s CNN's claim. So we say - CNN claims to be... But if multiple independent reliable sources have supported that claim - we can also say CNN is the most trusted name in news. I doubt such a broad claim can be verifiable with independent sources.
- In regards to Al jazeera, I'm not stating my opinions as facts. I have given multiple RS to support the claim. Please refer to sources linked in the article and below. It is a fact that public opinion surveys, media studies, and academic publishers have documented Al Jazeera's high credibility ratings in the region.
- Since you are claiming - talking about Al Jazeera's credibility is not neutral - please read WP:WEIGHT. If multiple scholarly and high-quality reliable sources state that Al Jazeera is trusted or perceived as credible (the Arab and Muslim world) - then we can include it in the article. - You have not given multiple established RS to support the claim, the sources you cite are 3 journalism professors who are presenting their opinions. The US army press article is also someone presenting their opnion. The only one of the sources that actually support the text of what you have written is Mohamed Zayani. Indeed, in the early days of AJE, anecdotal evidence suggested that people were ready for a change. In January 2007, a survey of AJE viewers conducted by the Nation newspaper—incidentally, one of the few English dailies in Pakistan with an aggressively anti-West tone—found that AJE was "fast replacing" Western news channels as an information source, and was "in great demand," particularly among affluent residents of Karachi. Cable providers claimed that conservative Muslims and moderates alike were requesting the channel. Nearly every featured AJE viewer praised the channel’s balance, objectivity, and credibility—the very qualities that the BBC survey would identify a year later as Pakistani news consumers’ most important criteria for high-quality news programming
