The sections that I will have on the article are as follows:
About - the article currently has a basic overview of the disease, however, I will add a more in depth genetic aspect to the introduction and explain the root cause of how the disease arises based off of the specific mutations. This will tie into the treatment options later on in the article. There is also no picture of what a bloodsmear of AEL would look like, which I would like to add as well. Risk factors - there have been studies that have shown to increase the risk of the mutations that cause AEL, as well as certain populations have a higher pre-determined risk which will be discussed in this section. Diagnosis - the NCCN has newly published guidelines in 2025-2026 that discuss the characteristics and diagnostic criteria that a patient must meet in order for a formal diagnosis of AEL that I will discuss here. There is only mention of 1 specific mutation here and the guideline used is not up to date. Prognosis - Certain mutations come with certain prognoses due to the agressiveness of disease associated. I will elaborate on this and make this section distinct from the treatment section as there is too much information to include both in the same section. Great quantity of information and thorough discussion of the background, risk factors, treatment options, etc. in the article. Linked sources were real, accurate and relevant to the discussed material.
While information is very detailed and comprehensive, its readability is most relevant to those in the scientific fields and may be difficult for the average person to understand. As this article may be searched largely by two populations for information, patients and health care professionals, it may need some wording changes to be easier to digest for such audiences. One way to do this could be to create a mini lead sentence/paragraph for each header so people can look for information and concepts quickly. In the same way, the lead is an excellent description of the biochemical changes that are involved in AEL, and could be even further improved by adding basic symptoms and clinical presentations. Another suggestion that could make this article more reader friendly would be to add an image of what this condition looks like.
Overall, this article has very strong incorporation of recent research and explanation of biochemical pathways. Further improvement of this article includes making it more digestible for the lay person to understand. Hanhan23 (talk) 03:17, 25 March 2026 (UTC) Reply
