Honestly, if Wikipedia is going to be hosting this table on this page, with synthesis of primary sources and everything else, then you might as well bring back the old table with around 23 cardinals and relax the reference requirement back to two or three references to prevent reference cluttering. This dedicated page can afford a table of 23 cardinals in a way that the main 2025 papal conclave article cannot. 73.8.239.215 (talk) 20:13, 2 May 2025 (UTC) Reply
- Good point. There are so many versions I'm a bit intimidated myself, but I'd say be WP:BOLD and feel free! Other editors will certainly be weighing in/reverting if they don't like it. The Savage Norwegian 22:04, 2 May 2025 (UTC) Reply
- The sortable table is very useful, and the seven-citation metric eminently practical. At this stage of the general conventions much discernment has already taken place; we need not worry about WP:BLOAT. kencf0618 (talk) 01:38, 3 May 2025 (UTC) Reply
Robert Sarah is considered papabile too. Can't we just list all the participating cardinal-electors and make the names of those considered papabile appear bold, renaming the page into "2025 papal conclave electors"? There's no such list in the 2025 papal conclave page either, unlike in the German WP. 2001:4BC9:1F9F:ADB1:AD0E:EB7:B559:E399 (talk) 12:10, 3 May 2025 (UTC) Reply
- It's a matter of judgment. Have to make the cut somewhere. kencf0618 (talk) 12:21, 3 May 2025 (UTC) Reply
- Robert Sarah is someone who certain people want to be pope. It doesn't mean he has anywhere near one of the foremost candidates. ~Darth Stabro Talk • Contribs 12:26, 3 May 2025 (UTC) Reply
- Sarah is considered papabile by many sources and bettings. 2001:4BC9:1F9F:ADB1:AD0E:EB7:B559:E399 (talk) 12:58, 3 May 2025 (UTC) Reply
- Agreed. Sarah is highly considered by several outlets. At the least, include him amongst the others. 2603:6011:C003:1256:4143:D6C0:F67:4566 (talk) 16:18, 5 May 2025 (UTC) Reply

maybe we should also explain why some are listed while other famous cardinals are not regarded as papabile Braganza (talk) 15:28, 3 May 2025 (UTC) Reply
- (and this is an example as to why this article should not exist in the first place: it will always be subjective judgement/WP:OR as to who is listed and who is not.) ~Darth Stabro Talk • Contribs 15:37, 3 May 2025 (UTC) Reply
- That's why there should be a page listing all cardinal electors or a section in the article 2025 papal conclave listing them all. 2001:4BC9:1F9F:ADB1:AD0E:EB7:B559:E399 (talk) 16:35, 3 May 2025 (UTC) Reply
- Thank you. So this page is really unnecessary. If anything one might make the papabile cardinals in the page above appear bold. 213.142.97.246 (talk) 10:09, 4 May 2025 (UTC) Reply
