Citations in the quotes section
[edit ]I have never seen a quotes section with any citations to quotes, not that I don't think there should be, but I haven't found anything in WP:MOS about it. The {{Quotes}} template doesn't allow for web sources either. Tampabay721 (talk) 01:16, 17 December 2009 (UTC) [reply ]
- I readded the {{Fact}} tags because I have no idea if the quotes are correct. They text should be verifiable. — X96lee15 (talk) 02:13, 17 December 2009 (UTC) [reply ]
- I agree. I say that to myself whenever I'm reading the quotes on other articles for other games/series in sports, but instead of having [citation needed] separating all the quotes, I'd say remove all the {{Fact}} tags and put in {{Unreferenced|date=December 2009|article's section called "Quotes"}}. That way all the quotes are noted as not being cited and there wouldn't be any out of place [citation needed] tags. Tampabay721 (talk) 02:26, 17 December 2009 (UTC) [reply ]
- Sounds good to me. — X96lee15 (talk) 02:39, 17 December 2009 (UTC) [reply ]
- It looks pretty difficult to cite the play by play unless it's a video reference, as there's no transcripts of play by play available. I found some sources of the quotes made by the players, but the announcers seem difficult to cite. GWST11 (talk) 09:00, 18 December 2009 (UTC) [reply ]

- In the lead, there are three links to American League Central, only the first instance needs linking. Also, in the third instance the contraction "AL Central" is used, which should be expanded or explained earlier on.
- "identical records of 86–76" this will be unclear to readers unfamiliar with baseball. Suggest "identical win–loss records of 86–76"
- There's a problem with the dates all the way through. Things like "May 10th" should be replaced by "May 10"
- You need to replace the hyphens with commas or em-dashes in the following sentence: "Tigers' hitting coach Lloyd McClendon-who had been acting as manager following Leyland's ejection-was"
- The Game Summary section is somewhat lacking in citations. At least one per paragraph is usually preferable.
- "the Twins would retie the game" needs to be past tense --> "the Twins retied the game"
Those were the only problems I found so once they have been addressed I'll pass this one. Big Dom 08:07, 8 April 2010 (UTC) [reply ]
- Fixed, except Win–loss record. That article pertains only to pitchers, not team records. The Game Summary is largely cited by the general reference. Staxringold talk contribs 13:22, 8 April 2010 (UTC) [reply ]
- No problem regarding the win-loss thing. As you can probably tell, I am one of those readers unfamiliar with baseball – try as I might I can't make head nor tail of the game. Anyway, good work on the other points (although I replaced the en-dashes you used with em-dashes). I'll pass this one now, it meets the criteria in my opinion.
