Talk:Élie, duc Decazes
It is of interest to the following WikiProjects:
His title was not duc DE Decazes
[edit ]Élie Decazes was NOT the duc DE Decazes. He was the duc Decazes. In the Peerage of France, family names (unless dependent on the name of a fiefdom) were not given the extra "de" in between the rank and the name associated with the rank. Decazes is a family name and not a fiefdom. Because of this no "de" was included in his new title. A similar case in point is Hortense Mancini. Her husband was specifically made the duc Mazarin and not duc de Mazarin because Mazarin was a family name and not the name of an appanage. The title of this article needs to be moved. Sorry, I made a confusion between Elie Decazes and Pierre Elysée Decazes.
I withdraw my comment.
