The Proclamation of Singapore is an annex of the Independence of Singapore Agreement 1965 dated 7 August 1965 between the governments of Malaysia and Singapore, and an act to amend the Constitution of Malaysia and the Malaysia Act on 9 August 1965 signed by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, and read on the day of separation from Malaysia, which was 9 August 1965, by Lee Kuan Yew, the first Prime Minister of Singapore.
