Sateco AG is a Swiss family-owned manufacturer of silicone keypads and human–machine interface (HMI) components, headquartered in Schwerzenbach, canton of Zurich. Founded in 1999, the company supplies automotive, industrial and consumer electronics manufacturers worldwide, including companies such as Daimler, BMW, Tesla and Mitsubishi.^[2]^[3]

History

Sateco AG was founded in 1999 by Hanspeter Sauder, Alex Häusler and Peter Busshart in Nänikon, Switzerland^[3]. The company was among the first to specialise in the development and manufacture of silicone keypads for the automotive industry.

In 2001, an in-house quality assurance test laboratory was established. From 2003, Sateco supplied keypads for controls in various automobile models, including all switches of the Mercedes E-Class. In the same year, Sateco USA LLC was founded.

From 2008, the company expanded into Asia with the founding of Sateco Asia Ltd. in Hong Kong. In 2011, Sateco Holding AG was established in Switzerland. In subsequent years, further subsidiaries and sales presences were founded in China, Japan, Korea, Thailand, India and Europe.

In 2014, production capacities in China were expanded with the full takeover of the Beihai production plant. In 2019, the Engineering Center in Guangzhou was enlarged.

Following the restructuring to Sateco International AG in 2022, the company extended its presence through the founding of Sateco Philippines Inc., registered with the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) in November 2022.^[4] The company invested between 10 and 13.4 million Swiss francs in a production facility at the TECO Industrial Park in Mabalacat, Pampanga, designed to employ 300 to 400 workers.^[5]^[6]^[7]^[8] Production at the Mabalacat plant started in April 2025.^[9]^[10]

The company employs approximately 850 people worldwide^[3] and maintains production and sales locations in Europe, Asia and the United States. Subsidiaries include Sateco USA Inc. (Northville, Michigan), Sateco Asia Ltd. (Hong Kong), Sateco K.K. (Tokyo), Sateco Engineering Ltd. (Guangzhou) and Sateco Philippines Inc. (Mabalacat, Pampanga).^[11]
