Nobel Digital (formerly FCR Media) is an Estonian digital marketing agency headquartered in Tallinn. Founded in 1993 as the Ekspress Hotline telephone information service, it evolved through yellow pages publishing and the international FCR Media Group into one of Estonia's largest digital agencies.[1] [2] The company is a Google Premium Partner.[3]
History
[edit ]Origins and yellow pages era (1993–2009)
[edit ]The company was established in 1993 as Ekspress Hotline, operating the 1182 telephone information hotline during the early years of Estonia's restored independence.[2] It subsequently published the Kontakt series of regional yellow pages directories, the last of which — Kontakt. Lõuna-Eesti telefonikataloog — was published in 2016.[4] Over the years, the company operated under several names including Audiomeedia AS and Aktsiaselts Infoatlas.[5]
FCR Media era (1996–2020)
[edit ]In 1996, the company became part of the international FCR Media Group, a European network of local search and digital marketing companies with operations in Belgium, the Netherlands, Ireland, and the Baltic states.[6] In 2009, private equity firm BaltCap acquired the company through its fund Contact Holding.[6] In March 2018, FCR Media Group sold its Estonian and Latvian operations to the local management team led by Kristiina Tukk, making the company fully Estonian-owned. At the time of the buyout, the company served over 4,000 clients with 35 digital media specialists and was described by Postimees as Estonia's largest digital media agency.[1] FCR Media placed first among all Estonian marketing agencies in the Äripäev Marketing TOP ranking for agency revenue in 2019.[7] In the 2020 edition, the company (by then rebranded) placed second with agency revenue of 2ドル.59 million.[8]
Nobel Digital (2020–present)
[edit ]In February 2020, FCR Media rebranded as Nobel Digital. The name derives from the company's then-headquarters in the Noblessner harbour quarter in Tallinn, a former shipyard built by Emanuel Nobel and Arthur Lessner.[7] Simultaneously, the creative agency subsidiary Nobel Creative was established.[2] The Nobel group expanded to four divisions: Nobel Digital (digital marketing), Nobel Creative (creative services), Nobel People (leadership training), and Nobel Tech (technology and platform development).[9] Nobel Tech developed the SyncMe local SEO marketing platform and the ee.ee self-service digital marketing platform, the latter of which received a bronze award at the international Siinda competition as one of Europe's best digital marketing innovations.[10] Nobel Tech invested in the German startup Excelsea GmbH & Co. KG to bring the international Markee platform to the European market.[11] In subsequent years, Nobel Creative and Nobel Tech were merged back into Nobel Digital (Nobel Creative in 2024, Nobel Tech in 2025), consolidating all operations under a single entity.[12] The company's managing partner Kristiina Tukk has been a speaker at Siinda international conferences and published opinion pieces in Äripäev on topics including ESG in the marketing industry.[13] [14]
Notable campaigns
[edit ]In collaboration with Arena Media and Agenda PR, Nobel Digital created the cybersecurity awareness campaign "Kontrolli üle!" for the Estonian Information System Authority (RIA), which placed third in the "Positive Change" category at the TULImust results competition organised by the Estonian Marketing Association.[7] The company also produced a road safety campaign documented by Postimees .[15] [16]
