John Wing, born c. 1585 and died 1629/30, was a 17th century English Protestant minister and religious writer from Oxfordshire, England.

By November 1617, Wing was pastor of an English church at Hamburg. Wing subsequently served the English Protestant congregation at Flushing, Zealand from 1620 until 1627. Wing then transferred to The Hague, where he became the first minister of an English congregation and served from 1627 until 1629. ^[1]

Wing is generally identified with the John Winge, also recorded as Wynge, who studied at St Alban Hall beginning 12 October 1599. He received a B.A. from The Queen’s College, Oxford, on 16 February 1603/4.^{[2] [3]}

Wing’s known printed works include:

• "The Crowne Coniugall, or The Spouse Royall" (1620), a work on Christian marriage ^[4] ;
• "Iacobs Staffe. To Beare Vp, the Faithfull. And to Beate Downe, the Profane" (1621);
• "Abels Offering. Or The Earely, and Most Accepted Sacrifice of a Christian" (1621);
• "The Best Merchandise" (1622); and
• "The Saints Advantage" (1623), preached at The Hague in the presence of Elizabeth Stuart ^[5]

On the title page of Iacobs Staffe, the work is described as a farewell sermon preached at Hamburg to the Merchant Adventurers of England ^[6] ;

In a will dated 2 November 1629, Wing describes himself as a clerk, having lived in the Hague and then in the parish of St Mary Aldermary in London. He writes of his wife Deborah, a few children that he references collectively, and finally a daughter also named Deborah. Wing died after 2 November 1629, and before 4 August 1630, the date when his will was proved in probate. The location of his burial has not been established. ^[7]

It is important to note that older genealogical accounts identify Wing's wife Deborah as the daughter of Stephen Bachiler. Later genealogical research could not confirm this relationship.^[8]

Wing's wife and his sons John, David, and Stephen migrated to Boston sometime before 1637. In 1637, the family received a grant from the Crown to a section of Cape Cod in Plymouth Colony. in 1641, Stephen purchased a 1-room fort-house in East Sandwich that remained in the family for 300 years. ^[9]

The Wing Fort House was sold to the Wing Family of America, inc. in 1942. ^[10]
