  • If you need feedback on your draft, or if the review is taking a lot of time, you can try asking for help on the talk page of a relevant WikiProject. Some WikiProjects are more active than others so a speedy reply is not guaranteed.
How to improve a draft

You can also browse Wikipedia:Featured articles and Wikipedia:Good articles to find examples of Wikipedia's best writing on topics similar to your proposed article.

Improving your odds of a speedy review

To improve your odds of a faster review, tag your draft with relevant WikiProject tags using the button below. This will let reviewers know a new draft has been submitted in their area of interest. For instance, if you wrote about a female astronomer, you would want to add the Biography, Astronomy, and Women scientists tags.

This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.

  • Comment: There are no indications that his publication record reaches the level needed for. WP:NPROF#C1. Beyond this I see no indications of awards that will satisfy any of the other NPROF criteria. Writing a single complaint letter does not pass notability, I strongly suggest waiting some years until his citations are better and/or he receives major awards. Resubmitting after minor changes may just annoy reviewers. Ldm1954 (talk) 15:34, 9 March 2025 (UTC)
  • Comment: Likely UPE and/or block-evasion. DMacks (talk) 23:49, 29 January 2025 (UTC)
  • Comment: Fails WP:NPROF. Significant coverage in secondary sources is needed for an article about this scientist. The sources cited are mostly papers by the subject, not about the subject. Also, WP itself cannot be cited as a source on WP. WeirdNAnnoyed (talk) 22:35, 26 December 2024 (UTC)

Jamal Lasri was born in Casablanca is a Moroccan-Portuguese synthetic chemist.[1] [2] [3] He received his B.Sc. degree in chemistry from the University of Hassan II Casablanca in 1997. Then, he moved to Spain for his M.Sc. and Ph.D. studies at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Valencia under the supervision of Prof. José Sepúlveda-Arques.[4] His work was focused on the synthesis of pyrido[3,2-d]pyrimidine-2,4-diones,[5] novel route for the synthesis of N-tosylguanidines by ring cleavage of 1,2-dihydro-2-tosyliminopyrimidines[6] [7] and study of the intermolecular transamidation reactions of N-carbamoylmethyl-N'-tosylguanidines with primary amines.[8] [9] He obtained his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in organic chemistry in 2002 and 2004, respectively (Excellent "Cum Laude").[10]

Crystal structure of one of the molecules of (1,3,5,7,9-pentaazanona-1,3,6,8-tetraenato) platinum(II) complex reported by Jamal Lasri and coworkers in Inorg. Chem. 2012, 51, 10774.
Partial stick representation of the crystal packing diagram of bis-(pyrrolidin-2-ylidene)-phthalamide palladium(II) complex reported by Jamal Lasri and coworkers in Chem. -Eur. J. 2008, 14, 9312.

Career

[edit ]

In September 2004, he started his postdoctoral research funded by a fellowship from Foundation Bancaja - Caja Castellón at the Jaume I University joining the group of Prof. Santiago Vicente Luis Lafuente.[11] He worked on the design and synthesis of new copper bis(oxazoline) polymeric systems and their use as heterogeneous catalysts for cyclopropanation reactions.

In May 2005, he moved to Portugal to work as a postdoctoral researcher with a Foundation for Science and Technology fellowship in the group of Prof. Armando J. L. Pombeiro at the Instituto Superior Técnico of the University of Lisbon.[12]

In January 2008, he was appointed associate researcher (Science 2007 program) at the Instituto Superior Técnico. His research interests involved the activation of organonitriles by transition metal centers, metal-mediated synthesis of N-heterocyclic compounds via [2+3] cycloaddition,[13] [14] thermal and microwave-assisted transition metal-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions for carbon-carbon bond construction (e.g. Suzuki and Heck types) in water,[15] [16] peroxidative oxidation of alcohols,[17] [18] alkanes [19] [20] and green chemistry.

In September 2013, he holds a position of associate professor at King Abdulaziz University. In June 2015, he was promoted to Full Professor of organic chemistry.[21]

He discovered the Lasri condensation, the organic reaction of chalcone with a hydrazone to produce an azine and 3,5-diphenyl-1H-pyrazole.[22] In addition, together with Prof. Armando J. L. Pombeiro, Prof. João J. R. Fraústo da Silva and coworkers they reported the first example of oxadiazoline and ketoimine palladium(II) complexes as highly efficient catalytic systems for Suzuki reaction in supercritical carbon dioxide (scCO2).[23]

Complaint about the employment in Moroccan universities

[edit ]

In May 2012, Morocco World News published an article indicating that Prof. Lasri wrote a letter to Prof. Lahcen Daoudi Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Mr. Abdelilah Benkirane's government complaining about the competitions for employment in Moroccan universities.[24] Moreover, several news also reported that most Ph.D. holders in Morocco do not trust universities' processes for recruiting professors due to suspicions of political affiliation, nepotism, and bribery.[25] [26] [27]
