  • Comment: Kindly stop using AI to word and edit this draft, it is not permitted. Secondly, while the "obituary" is helpful to some degree, it is actually a death notification from the funeral service, so neither independent nor subject to editorial oversight. An obituary by a journalist would be a better source, since what is needed here is the WP:GOLDENRULE. Now for cartoonists, photographers and similar people this can be difficult, since journalists tend not to want to write about them, but it's a straight requirement for notability. Edwin P. Lepper (1913–2010) was an American freelance gag cartoonist and illustrator whose work appeared in national periodicals from the 1950s through the 1970s.[1]

Biography

Lepper was born in Springfield, Massachusetts, to Oscar and Elsie (Dittrich) Lepper.[2] He worked as a freelance cartoonist and illustrator for several decades before retiring in 1992.[2] He resided in Hampden, Massachusetts, and died at Baystate Medical Center on July 12, 2010, at the age of 96.[2]

Career

Lepper was an active contributor to the mid-century American magazine and newspaper markets. His single-panel gag cartoons were published in national outlets including The Saturday Evening Post, The Wall Street Journal, and the National Enquirer.[3] [4]

His illustrations spanned topics such as marriage, history, domestic humor, and everyday satire, and continue to be featured in retrospective anthologies by The Saturday Evening Post.[5] [6]
