This submission appears to read more like an advertisement than an entry in an encyclopedia. Encyclopedia articles need to be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources, not just to materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed. This is important so that the article can meet Wikipedia's verifiability policy and the notability of the subject can be established. If you still feel that this subject is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, please rewrite your submission to comply with these policies.

Where to get help
  • If you need help editing or submitting your draft, please ask us a question at the AfC Help Desk or get live help from experienced editors. These venues are only for help with editing and the submission process, not to get reviews.
  • If you need feedback on your draft, or if the review is taking a lot of time, you can try asking for help on the talk page of a relevant WikiProject. Some WikiProjects are more active than others so a speedy reply is not guaranteed.

This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.

Brooke M. Haney (they/she) is a queer, non-binary Intimacy Coordinator. They are the creator of The Actor's Warm Down, editor of The Intimacy Coordinator's Guidebook: Specialities for Stage and Screen, and one of the first 50 intimacy coordinators recognized as qualified by SAG/AFTRA [1] . Us Weekly has said that "Brooke M. Haney has become the go-to when it comes to choreographing sexually charged scenes." [2] A former performer, they started working in the intimacy sphere around its beginning. They told ABC7 "When the Me Too Movement hit, it became clearer that we needed a particular person responsible for this, and that's when we started to get paid for it." [3] They specialize in queer representation and theatre. Out Front Magazine, in a review of the film Birder, which Haney worked on as the lead intimacy coordinator, said "Queer narratives are incredibly important for visibility and representation. However, queer media often falls short in producing intimate scenes that feel real. Queer intimacy in media can feel forced, run by the male gaze, or unnatural. Haney’s specialization in queer stories can meditate on this issue and create sex scenes that feel authentic and free of stereotypes."[4] They have worked on CBS, Paramount+, Peacock, HBO, Amazon Prime and more.

Education

[edit ]

Haney got their BA from the University of Washington and MFA from the University of Central Florida. They began their career as an actor and director before finding intimacy coordination. They have intimacy choreographed shows and taught workshops at Vassar College, Syracuse University, NYU, University of Central Florida, Ventura College and Marymount Manhattan College, where they also taught for 8 years.[5]

The Actor's Warm Down

[edit ]

In 2016, Haney worked with students and alumni from Marymount Manhattan College to create a warm down for actors. It is aimed at allowing the actor to release from a challenging role and return to a healthy life, and to better center themselves after intense scenes[6] . They presented their findings in an interactive workshop at Bedford Correctional Institute as part of the 2016 Crossing Borders Conference[7] . The warm down is still used as a de-roling technique, and was part of the first pieces of Haney's journey into intimacy coordination[8] .
