BIZAY is a Portuguese e-commerce company that operates an online platform for customized printed and promotional products, selling to small and medium-sized businesses.[1] The company is registered as BIZAY, SA and is headquartered in Torres Vedras, Portugal.[2]
History
[edit ]BIZAY was founded in 2013 in Torres Vedras, Portugal.[2] The company initially operated under the brand name 360imprimir, serving customers in Portugal and Spain.[3]
In May 2019, the company raised an 18ドル million Series B round and used the funding to expand into the United States, Canada, and fifteen European countries, operating under the BIZAY brand in those markets.[2] In 2023, the company operated under multiple brand names: 360imprimir in Portugal, Spain, Mexico, and Brazil; BIZAY in other international markets; and 360onlineprint in the United States.[4]
Business model
[edit ]BIZAY operates a web-to-print platform through which customers design and order customized products in quantities of their choosing. The company does not own manufacturing facilities. According to TechCrunch, BIZAY uses software to aggregate orders from multiple customers and route the combined volume to industrial manufacturing partners, a batching approach that allows smaller individual orders to be fulfilled at lower unit costs.[1] EU-Startups reported in 2019 that the platform was processing an average of 4,000 orders per day at that time.[2]
Funding
[edit ]BIZAY has raised multiple rounds of venture capital funding. In May 2019, the company raised an 18ドル million Series B round led by LeadX Capital Partners, with participation from Omnes Capital, Pathena, and a state investment fund co-financed by the European Union.[2] [3] Following the round, the founders retained 48 per cent of the company's capital.[2]
In December 2020, BIZAY raised a Series C round of 32ドル million, co-led by Indico Capital Partners and the European Investment Bank, with participation from Iberis Capital and existing investors including LeadX Capital Partners, Omnes Capital, and Pathena.[1] Iberian Lawyer described the transaction as the largest venture capital deal in Portugal in 2020.[5]
In December 2023, the company raised a further 18ドル million in a Series C2 round. Tech.eu reported that the funding was directed toward product development and expanding the company's operations in the United States market.[4]
Recognition
[edit ]BIZAY was included in the Financial Times FT1000 ranking of Europe's fastest-growing companies in 2020.[6] In 2023, the company's founders were selected as Endeavor Entrepreneurs by Endeavor, an international organisation that selects and supports entrepreneurs.[7]
Four-day working week
[edit ]In October 2022, BIZAY introduced a four-day working week on a voluntary, trial basis for its staff, reducing weekly hours from 40 to 36 without a reduction in salary.[8] [9]
After three months, the company published data from the trial. Tech.eu reported that 98 per cent of the approximately 200-person workforce had opted into the arrangement, that job applications had risen by 300 per cent, and that staff turnover had fallen by 36 per cent year-on-year.[10] [11]
After one year, ECO reported that employee turnover had fallen by more than 40 per cent and that job applications had increased eightfold compared to the prior year, while productivity per hour had remained stable.[12] Following the trial period, the arrangement was made permanent for the company's corporate staff.[10]
