David Boyd Limbrick[1] is an Australian politician. He is a Libertarian member of the Victorian Legislative Council from 2018, representing South-Eastern Metropolitan Region.[2] He resigned in April 2022 and unsuccessfully contested the 2022 federal election as a Senate candidate for his party. In June 2022 he returned to the Victorian Parliament as an MP and was subsequently re-elected at the 2022 state election.
Political career
[edit ]In 2018, Limbrick stood as a candidate for the Liberal Democratic Party for the South-Eastern Metropolitan Region in the Victorian Parliament. He was elected to the seat with 0.84% of first preference votes.[3]
On 25 November 2021, Limbrick announced his intention to run at the 2022 federal election in the Senate. He resigned from the Legislative Council on 11 April 2022.[4] [5]
On 22 June 2022, Limbrick, after failing to gain a seat in the 2022 federal election, was reappointed to the Legislative Council as the Member for South-Eastern Metropolitan Region, in a joint sitting of the Victorian Parliament to fill the vacancy caused by his resignation. He successfully ran for re-election at the November 2022 Victorian state election.[6] [7]
Personal life
[edit ]Limbrick's girlfriend during the 1990s, Natalie Russell, was a victim of the serial killer Paul Denyer.[8] [9] [10] [11]

In May 2021, almost three decades after Victorian serial killer Paul Denyer terrorised the bayside city of Frankston, MP David Limbrick assembled a press conference. As he spoke to the gathered media, he stood shoulder to shoulder with friends and family of one of Denyer's victims: 17-year-old Natalie Russell. His voice catching, he spoke about Natalie. "She was my girlfriend."
